That peak is in my view
It’s snow capped ridges carve the sky like a blade forged by God Himself
Below my feet are gushed and nudged by the water flowing down from those sources
I look up again preview the line between my center and the summit knowing my desire to stand on top
As I move across, fording the Arroyo, the hammering of the inhibitor increases on steps that go deep and subsides when I step into shallows
I can feel the frost still lingering in the water that transfers to my skin, bones and asks to penetrate my mind and spirit
No matter which way the river kicks me, pivots me, I can still see that peak
With my eye
In my periphery…even
It looms above with beauty, anger, love and pride of a prize offered and accepted
I am stopping now..waist deep …fording
Pausing to look up again directly at that peak that calls to me
Knowing that once I am in the forest canopy I will now see her again for awhile..
